The Children, Young People and Families Plan 2014 - 2017
The reviewed Children, Young People and Families Plan (CYPFP) for County Durham outlines a three year vision for improving services for children and young people.
Our vision for the Children, Young People and Families Plan is that:
‘All children, young people and families believe, achieve and succeed’.
What is the Children, Young People and Families Plan?
The Children, Young People and Families Plan 2014/2017 is the single overarching, multi-agency plan for the delivery of priorities for children and young people in County Durham.
The responsibility for producing it rests with the Children and Families Partnership for County Durham.

How was the Children, Young People and Families Plan put together?
The plan has been reviewed to take into account changes in government policy, for example changes to school curriculums, raising the participation age for young people to remain in education or training, adoptions reforms and changes in services for people with special educational needs. It is also based on information from key documents such as the County Durham Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), the Annual Report of the Director of Public Health County Durham and the Child Poverty Strategy as well as the views of local people.
Consultation took place with children and young people, including disabled children and their parents. They identified a number of issues important to them and the CYPFP was amended to reflect their comments, and to address gaps identified from the feedback. A workshop also took place with key stakeholders from the Children and Families Partnership and consultation took place with Children and Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
How will the Children, Young People and Families Plan make a difference?
The plan will be implemented by County Durham’s Children and Families Partnership. The partnership is committed to delivering better outcomes for children, young people and their families in County Durham. Progress against the Delivery Plan will be reported 6 monthly to the Children and Families Partnership and Children and Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
