ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007 – 13

The North East ERDF programme 2007-2013 is worth £327m to support investment in the following two key priorities:

• Priority 1 - Enhancing & Exploiting Innovation to promote and embed ‘opportunity’ by advancing science, technology and innovation within the region’s business base and broader communities
• Priority 2 - Business Growth & Enterprise to promote measures that develop the enterprise and business base of the region, including in disadvantaged areas, to address the relative underperformance of the North East in terms of business formation, sustainability and environmental performance.

Commitments to date amount to £221m, of which £24.8m is allocated to or earmarked for County Durham projects.

How to apply

A significant amount of ERDF funding is distributed through ‘open calls.’ The current call is being managed via two calls per priority, one for capital and one for revenue, a total of £55m is being distributed, see below for information.

Under Priority 1 of the Programme:

• A round based call for capital projects (development of land and property); this call was open from 20 December 2011 until 30 March 2012.  Between £5 – £7.5m was available in this first round.  Subsequent rounds will be announced soon.
• An open call for revenue projects (provision of services), this call will be open from 20 December 2011 until 30 August 2013.  £8m is available.

Under Priority 2 of the Programme:

• A round based call for capital projects (development of land and property); this call was open from 20 December 2011 until 30 March 2012.  Between £5 – £7.5m was available in the first round.  Subsequent rounds will be announced soon.
• An open call for revenue projects (provision of services), this call will be open from 20 December 2011 until 30 August 2013.  £9m is available.
