The 'Learning the Business' pilot programme developed between the County Durham Economic Partnership's Employment and Skills Group and Durham County Council Children and Young Peoples Service hosted a showcase event in October 2010 to acknowledge the achievements of school / business partnerships.
The 'Learning the Business' concept see local employers matched with secondary schools to support teachers and students make linkages between academic studies and the world of work and a greater understanding of the operation of businesses within the County Durham economy. The programme has seen a social enterprise established, business clubs created, genuine business consultancy projects undertaken, product design and development and apprenticeship opportunities being offered.
Following the event in October, students from Greencroft School designed and published a newsletter showcasing some the projects acheived so far.
