The Health and Wellbeing Partnership (H&WBP) is a thematic partnership of the County Durham Partnership (CDP) and was established following a stakeholder workshop in January 2008. The Partnership brings together statutory, community and voluntary organisations who want to improve the health and well being of the people of County Durham.
The Health and Wellbeing Partnership oversees the health and wellbeing theme in the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS), working to help ensure that all residents lead long and healthy lives.
We are focused on three priorities:
- Increase life expectancy
- Reduce health inequalities
- Improving mental health and wellbeing
The health of people living in County Durham has improved in recent years and people in the County are living longer than they have done in the past. However health inequalities persist between the County and England as a whole and within County Durham. The partners of the Health and Wellbeing Partnership are committed to actively work together to reduce the pervasive and persistent health inequalities still so evident in our communities.
We are working together to achieve our ambitions through the Altogether Healthier Delivery Plan 2010/2011.
