We would like you to help us shape the services in County Durham that local people want. Please see below for some of the ways you can become involved.
Area Action Partnerships
Within Durham County there are 14 Area Action Partnerships (AAPs), which cover all areas of the county. These AAPs help identify and tackle local issues and provide local people and organisations with the chance to have their say on how services are provided. Why not register your interest and go along to the next meeting of your local AAP?
Three times a year AAP representatives attend the County Durham Partnership Forum, providing an opportunity for discussion of issues that local people consider important.
Parish and Town Councils
Within Durham County there are a total of 104 parish and town councils and 23 parish meetings. These local councils can have responsibility for a single area or neighbourhood. They can represent local interests to external bodies and work to improve local services with partners. A representative of County Durham Association of Local Councils (CDALC) attends meetings of the County Durham Partnership Forum.
Voluntary and Community Sector
There are many benefits of volunteering, including developing your skills, improving your quality of life, allowing others to benefit from your skills or providing an opportunity for you to improve your local area.
Why not look at our voluntary and community sector (VCS) webpage to find out how you can become involved?
