The Health and Social Care Act 2012 required all upper tier Local Authorities to establish Health and Wellbeing Boards by April 2013. The County Durham Health and Wellbeing Board has been in place since April 2013 and is a committee of Durham County Council.
The Health and Wellbeing Board is also a thematic partnership of the County Durham Partnership.
The Health and Social Care Act 2012 places clear duties on Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to prepare a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) to be discharged through the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB).
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) can be found within the Health, Social Care and Wellbeing area of the Integrated Needs Assessment (INA). This data provides a detailed overview of the current and future health and wellbeing needs of the people of County Durham. In addition to fulfilling our statutory obligations for needs analysis we are also committed to presenting a more joined-up evidence base supporting commissioning and policy development across all thematic partnerships of the CDP.
The Integrated Needs Assessment and County Durham Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2016 to 2019 (JHWS) are both available to view online.
