About Us

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 required all upper tier Local Authorities to establish Health and Wellbeing Boards by April 2013. The County Durham Health and Wellbeing Board has been in place since April 2013 and is a committee of Durham County Council.

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 places clear duties on Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to prepare a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) to be discharged through the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB). Please refer to the Vision and Priorities page for more detail on the JSNA and JHWS.

The Health and Wellbeing Board also has a working relationship to the County Durham Partnership.

The County Durham Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and County Durham Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) are both available to view on the Durham County Council website.
