About the Partnership

Partnership Structure

The County Durham Economic Partnership works through a partnership structure with representation from a range of sectors and key stakeholders within the County plus representatives from Government Agencies and the private sector.

In January 2007 we appointed independant Chair, Ken Jarrold CBE, formally Chief Executive of the County Durham and Tees Valley Strategic Health Authority. Ken chairs the Board, which comprises of sectoral representatives and is charged with the overall strategic direction of the Partnership.

Following the changes relating to the Local Government Review (LGR), it became apparent that we needed to review and revise the Partnership functions, structure and role. Following consultation and agreement by the Board in July 2009 the Partnership has a new structure and it's role and functions have been streamlined.

Also as a result of a review by the County Durham Partnership and LGR, the Partnership has been given a wider role that will include:

1. Strategic overside of housing, planning and transport issues. The new Place Shaping group chaired by Sarah Robson will be responsible for these topics.

2. The Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) will come within the strategic leadership of the Board and within the remit of the Business and Enterprise Group.
