About the Partnership

Working Groups

Following the review of the Partnership in July 2009, the number of working groups was substantially reduced. We now have 3 core themes of Business, People and Place which have working groups that sit within them. Not forgetting Rural, we have created a task and finish group which reflects our longer term ambition to bring rural matters ino the mainstream of the Partnerships work. Also alongside us is the County Durham Tourism Partnership which has it's own governance arrangements.

A clear requirement following the review was for the working groups to interact with each other as appropriate. The working groups therefore have adopted the following working arrangements:

  • Ensure the cohesion of the Partnership strands of People, Business and Place whether through a co-option of a Chair (or nominee) from another working group or by joint working group meetings if necessary.
  • Adjustment of organisational representation to suit the agenda items for specific meetings.
  • Co-option of, or presentations from, particular specialists to suit the agenda / workplan for the group.

Meetings of each working group include:

  • Progress against workplan and steps to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Update of workplan on a topic roll on / roll off basis
  • Progress against the relevant working group targets from the County Durham Economic Strategy, Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement.
